Turkey Conditional eVisa: Which Visas Qualify

Turkey conditional eVisa explained: who needs it, which Schengen, US, UK and Ireland visas or permits qualify, and the conditions checked at the border.
Last verified: 15 October 2026 against mfa.gov.tr and Turkish mission notices (Los Angeles, New Delhi, Karachi, Cairo)
The Turkey conditional eVisa is a single-entry eVisa for certain nationalities, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines. To get it you must hold a valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen country, the USA, the UK or Ireland. At the border you must also show a return ticket, a hotel reservation and at least US$50 per day, and you must arrive by air.
This guide explains who the conditional route applies to, which supporting documents count, and what Turkish immigration checks when you land.
Who gets the conditional eVisa
Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes the visa rule for every nationality on its visa information for foreigners page. For the nationalities below, ordinary passport holders need a visa, but they can get a single-entry eVisa instead if they hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit:
- Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Yemen
- The Philippines, Senegal, Palestine, Cape Verde and Equatorial Guinea
- Egypt, Iraq, Libya and Algeria (each with extra conditions, including age limits for some)
For most of these nationalities the MFA gives a stay of one month (30 days for the Philippines, Egypt, Palestine, Cape Verde and Equatorial Guinea). The eVisa is only for tourism or commerce. Work and study visas are issued by Turkish embassies and consulates.
The MFA page itself tells travellers to confirm current rules on evisa.gov.tr. Rules and age ranges change, so check your own nationality on the official portal before travel. Our country guides cover the common cases: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines.
Which supporting visas and residence permits qualify
The supporting document is what makes the eVisa "conditional". According to the Turkish Embassy in New Delhi, it must be one of the following:
- A valid visa from a Schengen country, the USA, the UK or Ireland
- A valid residence permit from a Schengen country, the USA, the UK or Ireland
Four details catch travellers out.
1. It must be valid on the day you enter Turkey. The embassy says validity is judged by date at the time you enter. A used or unused visa is accepted as long as its validity covers your entry date. A visa that expires the day before you land does not qualify.
2. Electronic visas from other countries don't count. The New Delhi embassy states that e-visas of other countries are not accepted as supporting documents. The Turkish Embassy in Cairo says the same. An ESTA, a UK ETA or any other electronic authorisation is not a visa for this purpose.
3. Turkish border officers look for sticker visas. The Turkish Consulate General in Los Angeles says Turkish immigration officers "can only recognize" valid sticker US, Schengen or Ireland visas, or Green Cards. If your status rests on another document, ask the nearest Turkish mission before you rely on it.
4. Visas in an old passport. If your qualifying visa is in an expired passport, the New Delhi embassy says the eVisa must be registered to your new passport. Carry the old passport and show it to Turkish immigration on entry. Carry the originals of all supporting documents.
The conditions at the border
Holding a qualifying visa gets you the eVisa. It does not, on its own, get you through the airport. The Los Angeles consulate lists these criteria for conditional applicants:
| Condition | What the official note says |
|---|---|
| Supporting document | A valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen country, the USA, the UK or Ireland |
| Return ticket | You must be able to prove you hold one |
| Hotel reservation | You must be able to prove you hold one |
| Money | At least US$50 for each day of your stay |
| Purpose | Tourism or business only |
| Arrival | By air only. The rule is "not applicable to the land border checkpoints" |
The New Delhi embassy adds two points. First, the eVisa website does not check whether your supporting document is valid or authentic. Second, airlines and Turkish immigration do check it, and airlines will refuse boarding if your documents don't meet the criteria. In practice the check happens at check-in, before you fly.
Approved carriers. Older notices tied the conditional eVisa to specific airlines. Today the MFA page names airlines only for Egyptian nationals: Turkish Airlines, AJet, Pegasus, Egypt Air or Air Cairo. For other nationalities we could not confirm a current carrier rule on an official page, so check before travel on evisa.gov.tr while you apply.
Checklist: what to carry
- The passport your eVisa was issued against, plus any old passport holding your qualifying visa
- The original qualifying visa or residence permit, valid on your entry date
- Your Turkey eVisa, printed or on your phone
- A return ticket
- A hotel reservation covering your stay
- Proof of at least US$50 per day (cash, cards or a recent bank statement)
- A flight into a Turkish airport, not a land crossing
How to apply in four steps
- Check your nationality on the official portal or the MFA page. If you are eligible for a regular eVisa without conditions, the rules above don't apply to you.
- Check your supporting document. Make sure it is a visa or residence permit (not an e-visa), from a Schengen country, the USA, the UK or Ireland, and that it will still be valid on the day you land.
- Book a return flight and a hotel before you apply, so you can show both at the airport.
- Apply for the eVisa on evisa.gov.tr or through a service like ours, using the passport you will travel on.

Official route vs our service: cost comparison
We are a private visa service. We are not the Turkish government, and you can always apply on the official portal yourself.
| Route | Cost | Processing | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official portal (evisa.gov.tr) | Government fee only; it varies by nationality, so check the portal | Shown on the portal | Apply and pay yourself |
| Sticker visa from a Turkish mission or visa centre | Mission fees; the New Delhi embassy says the eVisa costs at least US$85 less than a sticker visa | Varies by mission | For travellers who don't qualify for an eVisa |
| turkvisas.com Standard | US$120, government fee included | About 96 business hours | Checked application and support until the decision |
| turkvisas.com Priority | US$149, government fee included | About 48 business hours | As above, faster |
| turkvisas.com Express | US$179, government fee included | About 24 business hours | As above, fastest |
If you're comfortable applying on the official portal, you don't need us. What we offer is a check of your application and your supporting document before you submit, plus help if something goes wrong. The final decision always rests with the Turkish authorities, and we can't promise approval.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Turkey conditional eVisa?

Does a US ESTA or UK ETA count as a supporting visa?
No. Turkish missions say e-visas of other countries are not accepted as supporting documents. You need a visa or residence permit. Turkish border officers recognise sticker visas and Green Cards.
Does my Schengen visa have to be unused?
No. A used or unused visa is accepted, according to the Turkish Embassy in New Delhi. It must still be valid on the day you enter Turkey.
Do I need a return ticket and hotel booking?
Yes. Official Turkish consular guidance says conditional eVisa holders must be able to show a return ticket, a hotel reservation and at least US$50 per day of stay. Have them ready at check-in and at passport control.
Can I enter Turkey by land with a conditional eVisa?
No. The Turkish Consulate General in Los Angeles says the conditional rule applies to entry through airports and not at land border checkpoints.
How long can I stay?
For most conditional nationalities, the MFA lists a single-entry eVisa valid for one month. Filipino and Egyptian nationals get 30 days. Check your own nationality on the MFA page before travel.
