Why Hong Kong BN(O) holders choose Turkey

Why Hong Kong BN(O) holders pick Turkey over Greece and Cyprus.

Daily nonstops from Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, and Birmingham

~180,000 BN(O) visa route holders now reside in the UK. Turkish Airlines and British Airways fly the route hourly. Mediterranean weekend with less paperwork than the Schengen alternatives.

Multi-entry premium

90 × ∞

Days per visit, multiple entries within 180 days from issue

Most other eVisa nationalities get single entry, 30 days stay. BN(O) holders get the most flexible product Turkey offers, ideal for snowbirds and repeat visitors.

Pound buys more

-45%

4 to 5 star hotel rates vs equivalent Greek and Cypriot destinations

Lira weakness plus the BN(O)-to-UK migration wave means Antalya, Bodrum, and Cappadocia are the value picks of 2026 for GBP-paid travelers.

Before you fly

Things every Hong Kong BN(O) traveler should know about Turkey.

Use the multi-entry, plan two trips

The premium spec lets you enter twice on one eVisa. Common pattern: spring in Cappadocia, hop to Greek islands or Cyprus, autumn in Antalya. Total stay capped at 90 days per rolling 180-day window from first entry.

UK Type G to Turkey Type F

Both run at 220V. UK chargers work natively, just bring a plug adapter. Same voltage as the UK means no converter needed. HK Type G also works the same.

2 to 3 hours ahead of UK

Turkey is 2 hours ahead of GMT, 3 hours ahead during BST. Easy day flight from London, no jet lag. From HK: 5 hours behind, eastbound jet lag minor.

Bring your HK SAR as backup ID

Turkey reads your BN(O) at immigration. Some airlines, hotels, and HK Border Force on return want to see your HK SAR passport too. If you hold both, carry both.

Questions, answered

Turkey eVisa FAQ for Hong Kong BN(O) travelers.

BN(O) stands for British National (Overseas). It is a British passport issued mainly to Hong Kong residents born before July 1, 1997. If the cover of your passport says "British National (Overseas)" under "British Passport", you qualify. About 5.4 million BN(O) status holders exist worldwide.

No. HK SAR passport holders enter Turkey visa-free for up to 90 days. Only BN(O) passport holders need the eVisa. If you hold both, you can choose either, see the next question.

Either works for Turkey. HK SAR is simpler (no eVisa needed) for a single visit. BN(O) gives a multi-entry eVisa with 90 days stays inside a 180 days window, better if you plan multiple Turkey visits within six months. Many UK-based BN(O) holders prefer to travel on BN(O) to keep their UK Border Force re-entry simple.

Multiple entry. BN(O) passport holders get the premium eVisa spec: 180 days validity from the date of issue, 90 days stay per visit, multiple entries allowed within the validity window. Total stay capped at 90 days in any rolling 180 days period from your first entry.

Not on the eVisa. The 90 days per visit limit is fixed. To stay longer in one trip you must exit Turkey and apply for a longer-term visa class at a Turkish consulate. Within the eVisa window you can re-enter for another stay, capped at 90 total days per rolling 180 days period.

Three processing speeds are available. Express is the fastest. Most BN(O) applications are approved within 24 business hours regardless of the speed selected.

From USD 120 all-inclusive. Standard USD 120, Priority USD 149, Express USD 179. All government fees, document review, support, and tracking included. Pricing is in USD only. UK and HK cards are accepted, your bank converts GBP or HKD to USD at the prevailing rate.

From the UK: daily nonstops from London Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, and Birmingham to Istanbul on Turkish Airlines and British Airways. Flight time 3.5 to 4 hours. From Hong Kong: daily nonstops on Turkish Airlines and Cathay Pacific, around 11 hours.

Yes, every traveler including infants and minors needs an individual eVisa linked to their own BN(O) passport. Each application is filed separately. Note: BN(O) status was closed to new applications in 1997, so most BN(O) children must be the offspring of pre-1997 holders.

BN(O) passports can be renewed indefinitely (His Majesty's Passport Office continues to renew BN(O) passports for life). Check the expiry date on yours, it must have at least 6 months remaining beyond your planned departure from Turkey. The BN(O) status itself does not expire.

No. Your UK immigration status (BN(O) visa, ILR, or naturalisation) does not affect the Turkey eVisa application, which is based on your passport. If you have naturalised as a British Citizen and now hold a UK passport, you would enter Turkey visa-free on the UK passport instead.

Yes within limits. You can enter Turkey as many times as you want within the 180 days eVisa validity. Total stay capped at 90 days per rolling 180 days window from first entry. A common pattern: 30 days in spring, exit to Greek islands or Cyprus, return for 30 more days in summer, all on the same eVisa.
