Why Taiwanese travelers fly to Istanbul.
Direct from Taipei, ROC passports cleanly accepted, and the same tea culture rituals you know from Maokong, only with Bosphorus views.

Before you fly
Things every Taiwanese traveler should know about Turkey.
Cappadocia dawn flights book out
Balloons run at 5 to 6 AM and the best operators (Royal, Voyager, Kapadokya) book out 2 to 4 weeks ahead in peak season (April-June, September-October). Reserve before you apply for the eVisa.
Turkish çay, not Taiwanese tea
Çay is black tea served in tulip glasses, hot and constant. No bubble tea, no oolong. Çaybahçesi (tea gardens) are everywhere in Istanbul, similar to Maokong teahouses with a Bosphorus view.
Carry USD, not TWD
TWD does not exchange in Turkey. Bring USD cash. Most Taiwanese bank cards (CTBC, E.SUN, Cathay United) work at ATMs with 1.5 to 2 percent foreign transaction fee.
5 hours behind Taipei
Turkey is 5 hours behind Taipei time. Eastbound jet lag mild. Best months for Taiwanese travelers: April to June and September to October, mirroring Taiwan's spring and autumn.
Questions, answered
Turkey eVisa FAQ for Taiwanese travelers.
Yes. Turkey recognises the Republic of China (Taiwan) passport for eVisa purposes. Taiwanese passport holders apply on Taiwan's direct eVisa list with no Schengen precondition. The eVisa is issued in the holder's name as shown in the passport, no additional declaration required.
No. Taiwanese ROC passports are on Turkey's direct eVisa eligibility list. No supporting visa or residence permit is needed. The eVisa is the entire process.
Multiple entry with 30 days stay per visit. Taiwanese passport holders get a 180 days validity window from the date of issue, can enter Turkey multiple times within that window, and stay up to 30 days per visit. Total stay capped at 90 days in any rolling 180 days period from first entry.
The 30 days per visit limit is fixed. The eVisa is multi-entry, so you can exit and re-enter within the 180 days validity window for another 30 days stay, capped at 90 total days per rolling 180 days period. For a single longer trip, you must apply for a longer-term visa class at a Turkish consulate.
Three processing speeds are available. Express is the fastest. Most Taiwanese applications are approved within 24 business hours regardless of the speed selected.

Yes, every traveler including infants and minors needs an individual eVisa linked to their own Taiwanese passport. Each application is filed separately.
Apply with the passport you will actually travel on. The eVisa is linked to your passport number, so a different number on your travel passport will not match. Wait for the renewal to complete before applying.
No special permit needed for personal photography at these sites. Drone use requires permits from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation. Cappadocia balloon flights depart at 5 to 6 AM and remain the highest-engagement photo opportunity for Taiwanese travelers, comparable to sunrise at Sun Moon Lake or Yushan.
Turks drink more tea per capita than any nation, including Taiwan. Çay (black tea) is served small, hot, and constantly. Çaybahçesi (tea gardens) are open-air rooms similar to Taiwanese teahouses but with Bosphorus or city views. Try traditional çay with rahat lokum (Turkish delight) instead of mooncake.
Yes, most Taiwanese banks (CTBC, E.SUN, Cathay United) issue Visa and Mastercard that work overseas. Expect a 1.5 to 2 percent foreign transaction fee. Carry USD cash for bazaars and small merchants who do not accept cards.
